The wait will soon be over. Hogwarts Legacy will be released on the 10th of February this year and we have all the information on multiplayer, co-op mode and crossplay, or rather cross-progression.
In a month’s time, the time has come. Fans will finally be able to move into their Hogwarts house and start their own careers as wizarding students. The expectations for the new game ofthe Harry Potter universe are huge. The pre-sales figures on Steam have already climbed to a record level. But what does Hogwarts Legacy have to offer in terms of multi-player, co-op mode and cross-play? We have all the info for you!
Multiplayer in Hogwarts Legacy
The Harry Potter fanbase is huge. There is probably no fan who doesn’t have at least one friend or acquaintance who is also a fan. When the first trailers for the new wizardry RPG were released, many have already seen themselves training Quidditch together, fighting duels or simply making Hogsmeade unsafe. But what about a multiplayer mode for Hogwarts Legacy?
Unfortunately, we have to inform you that the developer Avalanche Software has confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy will not have any multiplayer features. It is a pure solo adventure. This also means that the question of a possible co-op mode has already been settled and is off the table. If you want to dive into the world of Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll have to do it alone.
However, you shouldn’t abandon all hope here just yet. Because Hogwarts Legacy will be an absolutely huge game with countless features and secrets. Games of this dimension are usually regularly expanded with updates and new content. A future DLC, which will also include a multiplayer mode, is definitely possible – even if there are no signs of it yet.
Crossplay in Hogwarts Legacy
Multiplayer and co-op modes are therefore not included in Hogwarts Legacy. But what about a crossplay feature? Will there be a way to play the game across different platforms? Again, the answer so far is no. Hogwarts Legacy will not offer crossplay or cross-progression. That’s a shame, but of course not really a surprise, since there won’t be any multiplayer or co-op mode either.
All in all, this sounds like bad news at first. However, the lack of these features says nothing about the gameplay or the game world. Hogwarts Legacy will be a very story-driven wizardry RPG that focuses completely on the single-player experience. Even though you might have liked to go to Hogwarts with friends, playing alone might make you fall deeper and more intensely under the spell of the magical world of the Harry Potter franchise, without any distractions.
