Fans of the Wizarding World will, unfortunately, have to do without Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy, that much is known. But now we finally get an explanation as to why Quidditch has been removed from the game. Moreover, there is new hope for broom sports fans!
What’s the problem? Quidditch is the most popular sport of all in the world of Harry Potter. So it only makes sense that this broom hunt is also playable in the upcoming role-playing game Hogwarts Legacy, right? Yep, because yes, it makes sense, but no, it’s not playable. The developers at Avalanche now reveal why, and a new leak gives hope.
This is why Quidditch isn’t in Hogwarts Legacy
You’ve just arrived at Hogwarts as a student, and already the Quidditch game is canceled. After all, grades are clearly more valuable than sports, thinks Phineas Black. Who is he? Phineas Black is the principal of Hogwarts in 1890, and he thinks that Quidditch serves no higher purpose. In one of the current trailers, users want to have that “read out”. At least, that’s the current consensus. It is not clear whether Professor Black has banned the sport for another reason.
What is absolutely clear, however, is that Quidditch will not be a part of Hogwarts Legacy. In the meantime, there is an explanation outside the universe. Potter insider and YouTuber SuperRebel suspects that the developers simply didn’t have enough time to finish the mini-game before the release. And he is right, as GameStar.de reports in a video (german). The developers simply had to divide their resources better and didn’t have any left for Quidditch.
Quidditch was planned: A recent leak reports that Quidditch was already in development. The published game files indicate that Avalanche was already working on the game mode or mini-game in 2017. Some other theories talk about a paid DLC that will bring us Quidditch in the coming months. They say that the content was cut from the game before the final version, in order to release it later. Players should thus be kept longer on their toes.

According to the leak, parts of the game world have also been removed or at least significantly altered. While the latter does not suggest additional content, the lost part does. These lost areas, along with Quidditch, could be introduced in one or more DLCs.
