A few months ago, a supposedly breathtaking gameplay trailer for a horror shooter called ILL popped up. Horror artist Oleg Vdovenko and his brother Vadim Vdovenko said back then: "This is not a game, just a concept". Now there is real gameplay!
Who are the Vdovenkos? Above all, Oleg Vodvenko is known in certain scene circles for creating concept drawings, 3-D designs and CGI short films. All of these works are part of the horror genre, but are not supposed to be real despite their apparent authenticity.
What is ILL anyway? ILL is supposed to be a horror shooter in the style of Resident Evil and Outlast. The latter in particular provided great inspiration for the design of the monsters. The developer Team Clout (formerly AMT) promises that ILL should have extremely realistic gunplay:
There is also a coherent, linear-level design. For some players this might be a knock-out criterion for games, but it gives developers the chance to pump every corner of the level full of detail.
The new gameplay trailer, which according to the developers should be real, gives you a first incredible impression. ILL runs on the latest Unreal Engine 5 and looks stunning - but see for yourself:
Does ILL have a release date? The developers are currently not giving any precise dates as to when or on which platform ILL will appear. A completely playable experience is still a long way off.
The developers continue to collect money through Patreon to continue financing the horror project. If you want, you can donate and get access to new information in advance and a first demo later (via patreon.com).

Gunplay and body dismemberment are all well and good, but what's behind the gameplay and story behind ILL? In the course of the game, you are supposed to travel to different creepy places, which are thematically different.
There you have to find out about the mysterious mutations and the madness that seems to threaten the region. It is not clear in which region of the world ILL takes place. An Eastern European setting in Russia or the former Soviet Union would be obvious.
But now you are asked: What do you think about ILL and its creator? Are you looking forward to such a wacky yet realistic horror game with strong shooter elements? Let us know what you think in the comments.
