The DayZ community comes up with more and more grandiose, but above all bigger, mod ideas. With one of the simpler mods, a user shows what the main game DayZ is really missing, and Guided.news shows you everything you need to know about the "Building Fortification" mod.
That's why less is more: Mod creators continue to flood the Steam Workshop with weapons, tanks, boats and helicopters. No question about it, these are all elements that the main game lacks.
The modder Dumgraph has now clearly shown: What DayZ is really missing are the little things. A few days ago he published his modification "Building Fortifications". It finally allows you to make residential use of existing buildings!
That's why it's missing in DayZ: Even three years after its first introduction, building a base in DayZ is still unsafe, unstable and nerve-wracking. Again and again you have to fall back on the few components that the developer Bohemia Interactive gives you.
In addition: What is more obvious in an apocalypse: building a base from raw materials, erecting fences and gates, or barricading an existing building and using it as a shelter? I agree.
We think that console and vanilla players should also have the opportunity to use existing houses as shelter.
What can the mod do? The Modification Building Fortifications is only available on the PC. More precisely, you have to download the mod in the Steam Workshop. To do this, you simply look for the name in the DayZ workshop.
Currently, Building Fortifications allows you to assemble windows and hang curtains. Further possibilities are to follow in the future. Among other things, doors that the modder is already working hard on and even shares a current WIP video (via twitter.com).
For doors you first need the vanilla base construction, unless the server on which you are playing has another construction mod installed.

You now attach the "Window Barricade Kit" to a window. Make sure that there is no snapping mode. You have to be very precise when placing it.
Open your inventory near the attached kit. Place the items described here in the slots provided on the left-hand side of the inventory. You should be able to see your structure here. Close your inventory, choose a hammer or ax, and start building up the foundation.
Again you place said items in the slots of the barricade. Pick up your hammer or ax again and start building the first three boards. You add more boards by adding the same number of nails and two more boards.
Combine the five jute strips with the sewing kit and bang, you get a "Burlap Curtain Cloth". You attach it to a window frame just like the barricade kit. The creator of the mod has created a helpful infographic for building.
