The Stegosaurus is one of the more well-known dinosaurs in ARK: Survival Evolved. With its large horn plates along its back, it can hardly be overlooked and it is particularly well suited as a pack animal and for farming wood, berries or fibers.
Find out everything you need to know about the herbivore in our Stegosaurus guide. But also how to catch him, tame him, feed him, and breed offspring too.
This is the Stegosaurus in ARK: Survival Evolved
Appearance: The stegosaurus is best known for its 32 horn plates running down its back, often brightly colored and arranged in a double row. At the end of its tail, it has 3 pairs of long spikes that it uses for defense. Its head is very small in relation to its massive body. The Stegosaurus has a small beak with small teeth.
Wild: As a peaceful herd animal, you will rarely find the Stegosaurus alone. The herbivore will only attack you if you injure or threaten it. You should make sure that there are no other stegosauruses nearby, as they will immediately attack you to protect one of their own.
Tamed: You can use the Stegosaurus as a safe means of transport. Larger quantities can also be transported easily. Its horn plates serve as additional protection against enemy arrows. If it attacks, it will defend you with its spikes on its tail, which can also be used to knock enemies away. It is most commonly tamed for gathering wild berries, wood, and fiber, which it can quickly and easily harvest with its tail.
