How to Fix the Button in the Arcane Tower of Baldur's Gate 3

The first step in the "repair" of the button is on-site in the Underdark at coordinates X: -42 Y: -206. There, you'll find an old, gloomy gravestone to interact with. If the subsequent automatic Arcane Knowledge roll succeeds, you'll notice that the gravestone in front of you is the result of the powerful spell "Stone Shape" – supposedly a waste for a gravestone. If you have a shovel with you, you can now choose the option to dig up the grave.

If you don't have one in your pocket, leave the place and look for a shovel in the Underdark. You might find one in the rundown settlement, among other places. Your excavation will reveal, after a moment, the skeleton of a large dog with a leather collar. The collar will then be on the ground and can be picked up.

Equip the dog collar. Well? Does the position of the button make sense now? Exactly, return to the supposedly broken button in the Arcane Tower. When you press the button again while wearing the collar, dog food (specifically, a raw steak) will be dispensed. Pick it up.

Oh! The button in the Arcane Tower is actually meant for a dog.

Well, one might expect that this steak is part of a larger puzzle, but that's not the case. The button served solely the purpose of serving food to the deceased dog of the homeowner. Unfortunately, you won't receive more than a piece of meat for your efforts.
