BG3: How to Get Fancy Footwork
To get the Fancy Footwork achievement, you have to defeat Gortash in Wyrm's Rock Fortress without activating any traps. In Baldur's Gate 3, there are quite a few ways to accomplish this achievement, both quite cheese ways and those in which you have to explore the location in detail. In this guide, we'll look at the latter.
Before doing the achievement, make sure that you have at least one character with Misty Step or another similar spell that will allow you to get to a high platform. Also, take Potion of Speed and Potion of Invisibility with you. It is recommended to save in case you make any mistakes.
BG3: How to to Defeat Gortash in Wyrm's Rock Fortress Without Activating Any Traps
Here's what you need to do next:
- Go to the main entrance of Wyrm's Rock Fortress and get inside.
- Next, ungroup the party. 3 characters should stay in the fortress and the fourth with Misty Step should go to the left side of the fortress.
- There you will see a cart with a concrete block on it. Near this place, there is a wooden platform on top. You need a Misty Step to climb it.
- Thus, you will find yourself on the roof of the fortress. There will be one Steel Watcher and a locked door. You have to lockpick it, which won't be too difficult because the DC is only 15, so at worst you'll spend a few lockpicks. Go inside and close the door to prevent the Steel Watcher from entering the fight.
- You will find yourself on the second floor of the fortress, where you have to find a lever. Pulling this lever will lower the ladder down so that you can climb it from the first floor.
- Group the party so that everyone is on the second floor.
- Then ungroup again and go downstairs with your character with the potions.
- Approach Gortash so that he is in ranged attack radius and drink the Potion of Speed. After that, quickly switch to turn-based mode and shoot Gortash. Next, use the Invisibility Potion to avoid activating the traps and go to the ladder.
- This ladder can sometimes be invisible, which makes it impossible to climb up from the bottom. However, you can attack an ally with a ranged attack. Thus, the character will automatically climb the ladder to the top.
- Now you just have to wait for Gortash to climb the ladder to you, where you can easily kill him. The rest of the enemies will be easy to deal with due to your position.
Alternative Methods to Achieve Fancy Footwork in Baldur’s Gate 3
The above method is effective, but not the only one. You can also find a secret passage under the audience chamber and go around the fortress from behind. Then you can get to the room behind the throne, where there are no traps. Lure Gortash to you and deal with him in a safe place.
As for cheese strategies, there are no fewer methods for you to try. You can drink the Elixir of Hill Giant Strength, use Gortash as a makeshift weapon, and run as far as possible with him to have time to travel to the nearest waypoint where it will be easy to deal with him without guards.
