In Diablo 4, there is a special NPC, the Curiosity Trader, who invites you to a kind of gamble. You can buy unidentified equipment from him - but only in exchange for a special currency.
What's going on? The Purveyor of Curiosities in Diablo 4 sells you non-identified equipment if you bring him Obols in exchange. We explain in our guide what exactly this is all about and why you shouldn't miss out on this game of chance.
What exactly is the Purveyor of Curiosities Trader? In Diablo 4, as in the predecessors of the A-RPG, you have various ways to get equipment. In addition to the enemies, who in turn can carry worthwhile loot with them, there are also various traders in the game. This trader also sells some unique items and set-pieces that blueberries got in a tidy list.
One of these traders is the so-called Purveyor of Curiosities Trader. This NPC sells you equipment that has not yet been identified. When you buy it, you only see the slot for which you are buying the item. The values of the item are randomly chosen when you identify it after the purchase. So you're effectively buying a pig in a poke.
Nevertheless, the deal is worth it, because with luck you can get rare (yellow) or legendary (orange) items for a relatively small stake. The curiosity dealer only accepts Raunenden Obols as currency.
There are four ways to farm Obols in Diablo 4:
You will receive Raunenden Obols as a reward for each of these quests and events.
What exactly does the Curiosity Trader sell? You can exchange Raunenden Obols with the Curiosity Trader for items for every gear slot of your character. The NPC also sells you Whispering Keys, which you can use to open the Silent Chests that are scattered throughout the game world.
Note: You can carry a maximum of 1,000 Obols with your character at one time. So remember to visit the curio dealer regularly and try your luck.
