The Flame Altar is the heart of your base in Enshrouded, where you can strengthen your flame and upgrade your Alter. This guide will show you why this is so important.
Our guide at a glance:
To be honest, the building area is sufficient at level 1. But if you're playing in a group, or you're one of those survival fans who spend hours in the build menu, your home base will reach its limits very soon.
Fortunately, you can expand the size of your home base relatively easily. Once you have built your flame altar, you can interact with it (“communicate with the flame”). When you do this, the altar offers three options:
By upgrading the altar, you expand the building area around your flame altar from 40 x 40 x 40 (level 1) to 80 x 80 x 80 (level 2). Subsequent upgrades always increase the value by 40.
Upgrading to level 2 costs you 1x Shroud Core. Level three then requires 10x Shroud Cores. You can craft Shroud Cores yourself at the blacksmith. You get 1x Shroud Core for 10x Shroud Spores (obtained by defeating enemies in the Miasma) and 10x Shroud Fluid (can be collected directly in the Miasma).
The second option, strengthening the flame of your altar, gives you numerous strong buffs for your character:
Strengthening the flame gives you several very strong advantages. However, the prerequisites and required materials are also more difficult to obtain at higher levels. The first two levels are still relatively easy and quick to achieve.
