Complete guide & walkthrough of Raid Atomgrad Episode 2 in Modern Warfare 2.
Unlock & Prepare: Before the actual raid begins, you’ll need to invite two other friends. There is no matchmaking and the raids in Modern Warfare 2 do not work as a solo number. Before that, you have to unlock the raid using one of three different methods. After that, you have to choose your role. Although all players can choose the same role, you should choose one of three roles Assault, Medic or Recon.
Attention: At this time, the second Atomgrad episode is still called “Atomgrad EP. 01” and is displayed at the top of the playlist. This is a mistake. Just select the top mission, it will work!
Start MW2 Raid Episode 2 and watch the first cutscene, which summarizes the events from the first raid so far. After successfully finding your way to the missile silo last time (with our Raid Guide #1), you now need to get to the warhead at the top.
Steam Valve Puzzle – How to solve the puzzle
Right after the launch, you and your teammates have to climb up the wall of the missile silo. However, there is a leaking high-pressure pipe in the way here, from which hot steam is blowing. At the bottom is a red valve that one of you players must occupy. Another one now climbs up to the first steam jet. The player at the red valve now turns it and the first jet disappears. Instead, the steam now breaks out of a second column. Attention, a juggernaut spawns here!
The climbing player now positions himself in front of the second steam jet and the player at the valve turns it again. The first steam jet reappears and the second one disappears. The member of your group who has now reached the top discovers another valve. Now the other two players can follow one after the other while the first player at the top turns the valve.
Intel Location #1: You will find the first secret data after crawling through the dirty tunnel. At the end you fall down, turn around and there is a blue folder on the crates.
First jump puzzle at the vent – This is how you have to jump
After a linear section, you will reach a kind of ravine. On the left wall, there are red circular flaps that belong to the venting system of the plant. You’ll also see a console with three large red buttons calling out to you. To start the puzzle, you have to press the three buttons relatively simultaneously.’Now the flaps on the wall open little by little and give you a parkour.
Our tip here: Watch the rhythm and the order of the opening flaps carefully before you start jumping. Also, two players must never stand on one of the flaps at the same time! Otherwise the weight is too great and the flap crashes down — you fall to your death.
The first jump puzzle in Atomgrade Episode 2 doesn’t require any special Modern Warfare 2 skills, just jump straight ahead. At the end, you’ll have to jump slightly to the right and you’ll reach your destination. If only one of you has made it, he can get back to you via the white ladder at the edge. If all of you have managed to complete the jump passage, use the yellow rope to transport you to the next level and the next jump puzzle in Atomigrad Ep. 02.
Second jump puzzle at the vent – This is how you have to jump
The second jump passage is no longer straight through the gorge. Here you have to get further up over various levels and along the clearly visible yellow pipes. Then change the side of the wall and jump to the end. But here in detail:
- The first three flaps open one after the other as usual.
- The next flap is diagonally right below you, where the yellow pipes start.
- Jump there even before the flap has opened, in the fall time it will open, trust me!
- From here on up the yellow pipes and wait for a moment!
- The flap in front of you will now open and a player will stand on it.
- Then the opposite red flap opens and you continue along the wall.
- The last flap is again diagonally right below you.
From here just hop onto the safe concrete and you’re done. However, it’s worth returning to the starting point once more:
Intel Location #2: Climb up the white ladder at the end of the second jump puzzle and run to the end. You can jump onto a balcony here, which is above the starting point. In the back right corner you will find the second secret data.
How to Continue: Complete the jump passage again and go through the blue double door. Behind it and in the following passage you will again encounter enemies. Defeat the soldiers and equip yourself in the armory that can then be entered. Stock up on ammo, collect stims and choose the best weapons. Afterwards you will land in a kind of dark mine shaft. Here, enemies will again ambush you at ground level and on the levels above. Defeat them and use the yellow rope in the middle to get further up. Then just jump onto the yellow marked platform in the middle and onto the next level. Here the next valve puzzle of the Atomgrad Raid Episode 2 awaits you.
Intel Location #3: On this level there is a red-lit hallway. On the back of a crate (at knee level) is the next secret data.
How to Deactivate the Fire with the Valve in the Cave
The next obstacle awaiting you is a jet of fire blocking the rope in the middle of the room. Why the rope hasn’t burned down long ago, we can’t answer you either. To rope your way past the fire, you’ll have to deactivate the gas using a red valve. Again, you should place one player at the valve while the other two slide up during the fire breaks.
You will find the valve on the outer wall of the room, illuminated by yellowish spotlights. Swing up the first rope to this level and the valve will be to your right. The roping player should not rope up immediately after the command: “Fire deactivated”, but wait exactly one second. Otherwise he is too fast and the fire could not retreat completely.
Once at the top, there is another valve on the left side of the rope elevator. You can use it to bring the last player in the bunch to the new level as well.
Here’s how it continues: At the top you will be greeted by enemy soldiers again, so it’s best to throw a Semtex right away. Then open the blue door and fight all the enemies in the following long corridor. At the end jump through the hole in the floor and open the next blue double door. Behind the door is the third and final jump puzzle in Raid Episode 2 of Atomgrad in MW2. However, this is also the most difficult passage.
Third jump puzzle at the vent – Hardest but last one
In the third jump puzzle in Episode 2, you’ll need to time the start perfectly! It’s a matter of milliseconds, which decide whether the last player in the row will reach the end or not. In addition, the flaps open irregularly here, flap 2 opens right after the start, but the fourth one opens very late.
After you have left the cage behind you, you have to change the wall side and jump directly to the right. Don’t be confused by the fact that more flaps open on the first half of the wall. Flaps will also open on the opposite side, leading you to the left. However, there is nothing to discover here, we have checked.
So jump to the right until you are safe at the blue double door. But before you continue, climb up the white ladder and take a closer look at the door at the end of the catwalk. Here a lock requires a keycard from you. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find out what’s behind the door or where to find the keycard yet.
Intel Location #4: On the way over the first three flaps and at the end of the cage tower you will find a blue folder with secret data.
Here’s how to move on: again you’ll have to jump through a hole in the floor, only this time absolute darkness awaits you. Move through the convoluted corridors until you discover yellow-rimmed holes in the floor. Through them you can drop further down. Here you will meet the heavily armed Tier 3 soldiers. About a dozen of them are waiting for you. Once you’ve killed them, you’ll reach another armory where you can equip yourself.
Note: Be sure to take the KV Broadside shotgun with you, it will be extremely effective for the upcoming section.

Complete the gas puzzle in Atomgrad Episode 2 – the most difficult puzzle solved.
The room that follows now is very large, but you only need to orient yourself along the right wall. On it there are three switch consoles. All of them have their own purpose and you will have to park all three players in four different positions. We will now name the consoles and positions from #1 to #4, starting from where you enter the room:
- Console for activating the ventilation system
- Console to stop the fans
- Console for opening the door
- Door leading to the gas passage.
How you solve the gas puzzle in Atomgrad Episode 2: Position Player One and Player Two at the door control and the first console, respectively. Player Three runs through the hallway at the end of the room, from which a staircase leads to a locked door. From here, the coordinated attempt to complete the raid begins:
- Player One at Console One flips the switch to release the gas.
- Player Two at the door control now opens the door.
- Player Three at the door sprints as fast as he can through the following obstacle course until he arrives at the three red fans.
- Player One is already moving to middle console Two to stop the fans.
- Just before player three arrives at the fans, player one turns off the fans.
- At this point, one of the three fans will randomly turn off, tell your teammate which one it is.
- Player Three must now continue to complete the parkour and Player Two at the door control gets ready.
- When Player Three arrives at a locked door, Player Two must immediately flip the switch so he can get to safety.
This is where things get really tricky. You have now completed the first of three phases of the Gas Puzzle or Gas Passage. Player Three, who is already in “Safety,” must now fight a handful of bots. He also now has access to three identical consoles. Players one and two will stay behind for the time being.
Decide well now who will be the last to stay behind, because now the next player has to run through gas hell. Our tip: Choose a player who can set up the auto-turret so that he won’t be overrun by enemies.
Worth Reading: Will there be a Zombie Mode in Modern Warfare 2?
How the second player gets through the gas puzzle: Let’s assume player one stays behind, then player two positions himself in front of the same door player three had been waiting in front of. Player Three, waiting on the other side, also has a view of the action:
- Player Three deactivates the gas from his side and gives notice.
- Player One opens the door and Player Two sprints through the parkour.
- The fans this time should stop Player Three from his side. This way Player One can defend himself against the onrushing hordes of opponents.
- Once Player Two has reached the door, Player One must return to the door control and open the last door.
How the last player gets through the gas puzzle: only Player One left! Players Two and Three now get their personal welcome from the AI opponents. In doing so, they still have to operate the door control, the gas and the fans.
- Player One waits in front of the entrance to the gas passage parkour.
- Player Two deactivates the gas and Three opens the door.
- One sprints through to the fans, which Player Two stops him.
- Through and waiting in front of the door, Player Three opens it for him.
Congratulations, you have successfully completed the gas passage and puzzle in Atomgrad Episode 2 and are now nearing the end of the Season 2 Raid Episode.
Escape from the gas – Where is the exit?
At the end of Raid Episode 2 of Atomgrad, you must escape from the leaking gas that seems to be chasing you. The problem is, the following passages and corridors are all filled with enemies that stand in your way. Kill them all and keep running through the long corridors and halls. In the end, it can be quite close. Don’t get bogged down with searching for secrets. The only secret waiting for you here is: “What happens after death”. At the end of the escape, just like us, you may be faced with the question, “Where the hell is the way out of here?”
Where is the exit at the end of the raid?
When searching for the final door, which will save you from suffocation, many players probably despair. But you are not looking for a door. Not even for a hatch. Not even for a ladder. You run to the end of the last hall, go up the stairs and straight ahead of you is a cracked wall.
Now blow up this wall with C4 and run through it as fast as you can and kill the last enemies on the upper floor. At the end of a yellow tunnel an airlock awaits you, which you have to activate in threes. Done… The final cutscene flickers across the screen and you can sit back and embrace an old friend.
