In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet you can also find and catch a Ditto. The shapeshifter is extremely helpful, especially for breeding new Pokémon. However, it is not that easy to find.

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you will eventually reach a point where you want to breed and hatch new Pokémon yourself. For this, it is very helpful to have a Ditto. The shapeshifter can take on any Pokémon form imaginable. This allows you to combine the Ditto with any Pokémon when breeding new Pokémon. So you don't have to wait until you've caught both a male and a female of the same species.

Find and catch a Ditto

The Ditto in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is not so easy to get. This is because the shapeshifter always imitates other Pokémon and can never be found in its actual form in the wild. That means if you're looking for a Ditto, you'll have to unmask all the wild Pokémon first to find out if there might actually be a Ditto behind it.

A good area to find a Ditto is the area around Porto Marinada. Travel there and drive around the area a bit. There are a lot of wild Pokémon here and it shouldn't take you too long to find a Ditto.

There are two different ways to uncover a Ditto.

#1. Battle

Once you start a battle with a wild Pokémon and it is actually a Ditto, it will take on its true form. If you're unlucky and don't catch a Ditto, you can simply flee quickly and try your luck with the next wild Pokémon.

#2 Sneak up and take aim

Sneak up on a wild Pokémon while crouching and use the Sight function (via the ZL button). If you already have the Pokémon in your Pokedex, this will show you its name. If it is a Ditto, "Ditto" will also be displayed, even if you see the shape of another Pokémon in front of you.
