Without a flashlight, things sometimes looks bleak in Starfield, especially in the numerous caves on the planets. Therefore, this guide shows you how to turn on the dim light, because Bethesda has solved this a bit strangely.
Here's the deal: There aren't too many tooltips and explanations in Starfield, even with the actually indispensable flashlight. Because some areas of the space role-playing game are almost pitch-black, be it shady outdoor areas at night or natural caves.
Moreover, a look at the inventory doesn't reveal any mobile lighting at all, so you might get the impression that you're doomed to wander in the dark forever. But that's not the case, especially since astronaut helmets have helmet lamps. Now, of course, you just have to know how to turn these lights on.
In this context, we are happy to be able to give you another "WTF moment" for your diary. We're sure you've already had the idea of trying the "F" key to turn on the flashlight on your PC, since it stands for "flashlight" in many games.

Well, this key is correct, as can also be seen in-game in the menu item "Key Assignment". However, it is not enough to press the F key only once. No, you have to hold it down for a moment so that your helmet sparkle lights your way.
Well, did you just hit yourself hard on the front of the head? It's not even your fault, because Bethesda could have easily communicated this fact, for example by using a star marking and the corresponding legend.
On the other hand, we are of course happy that you found your way here, and that we could help you in this dark moment of your existence.
