To get Chasmbass Oil, you will need to go down under the town and kill the fish, or buy it in the store. Below we’ll tell you the location of these fish and where you can buy the Oil.
Starfield: How to Find Chasmbass Fish
Among the few species of fish in Starfield, there is a very special one, the Chasmbass. During one of your visits to the Xenofresh lab, a character named Robie will give you the coordinates of a package with Aurora. If you deliver it, you can get a recipe for the contraband item and then smuggle Aurora. So one of the resources for making Aurora is Chasmbass Oil. Some players have trouble finding it, so here is a guaranteed place to find Chasmbass Fish:
- Jump into the water of Neon City at the landing spot.
- Turn on your scanner and look for the Chasmbass fish.
- Since you can’t shoot in the water, you have to climb onto a platform, from where you can kill the fish.
- You can also climb onto the fish itself. Jump onto it and try not to fall into the water.
Also, there is another way to kill the fish. At the banquet underneath the Xenofresh Fish Farm, shoot the Chasmbass. Then jump into the water and collect the oil from the dead fish.

Starfield: Where to Buy Chasmbass Oil
You can buy Chasmbass Oil in the same Neon. There are many shops in the city, but look for a large yellow sign that says, “Trade Authority”. There you can buy the oil for around 360 credits. If Chasmbass Oil is unavailable, wait about 24 hours for the store to restock.
