How to get the Bow in The Forest
The bow is one of the few ranged weapons in The Forest, so you should make a simple bow as early as possible to keep enemies at a distance. Another bonus is taking out simple cannibals with an arrow and a well-aimed headshot. The direct upgrade to the homemade bow is the modern bow, which you can find in one of the caves on the island.
How to make the Simple Bow
To make your first bow, you’ll need to collect some resources, but they are relatively easy to find. You’ll need a stick, a piece of cloth, and a rope for the bow. You should find the last two resources in almost every cannibal camp, in caves, or on boats along the coast. On the other hand, you can collect the first pieces of cloth from the various suitcases right after you arrive at the island.
Craft Simple Bow:
- 1x Stick
- 1x Cloth
- 1x Rope
Modern Bow Location – Where to Find
The modern bow or recurve bow cannot be made by yourself. You can find it in cave 7, located north-northwest of the large sinkhole. When you arrive at the lake above the sinkhole, you must take the narrow spit of land leading to the island’s northern area. You will find the cave entrance to the west at about the level where the lake turns into a small river.
The big differences to the manufactured bow are especially found in the higher range, the greater damage, the faster arrows, and the lower difficulty of aiming. On the other hand, the modern bow has a few minor drawbacks. It’s much harder to get, plus it has a lower rate of fire because you wind the arrows slower. Due to the long-range, it’s also often the case that you can’t find an arrow again.
