The Lynels are powerful enemies in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. But the dangerous fight is worth it because the giant monsters bring excellent loot and, once you’ve got the hang of it, aren’t that hard to defeat.
What it’s about: In the underground and on the surface of Hyrule you can find 34 Lynels. These are large, centaur-like enemies that provide you with essential materials to improve your equipment. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find each of these monsters and how to defeat them.

Here You’ll Find Lynels in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
As mentioned earlier, there are 34 Lynels scattered throughout the game world of Hyrule. 15 of them are on the surface, and 19 live in the Depths. In the screenshots below, you can find the exact locations of each of the Lynels.
How to Defeat Lynels in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Before the battle starts, you should increase your attack to +3. You can do this, for example, by cooking five sword bananas or five sword mushrooms together. The finished dish will give you +3 to your attack power for four minutes. If you have the barbarian set, you already get +2.
This is important. With more damage, you’ll hopefully win the fight faster and thus use fewer weapons because you’ll have to land fewer hits. Besides that, you should have a strong bow and enough arrows in your luggage.
During the fight, concentrate on dodging Lynel’s blows with a backflip and landing a series of attacks in slow motion. Each time the beast channels its fireball, you can use this time to shoot an arrow into its head. This will stun the Lynel and you can start throwing punches again. Before your opponent regains consciousness, you can climb onto his back and land more hits from behind. With this tactic, you should have no problem defeating any Lynel.
What Kind of Loot Does a Lynel Drop?
The big monsters drop quite a few valuable items. Especially crafting materials for improving your equipment and for the Fuse ability can be captured in the fight against lynels:
- Lynel Horn
- Lynel hoof
- Lynel Heart
In addition, Lynels can also drop powerful weapons, such as a five-shot chimera bow.
By the way, there are Lynels with red, blue, white, and silver manes. Which color you find depends on your world level. The more monsters and enemies you successfully fight, the higher your world level will be.
