In DayZ you’ll be in Chernarus, among other places, fighting your way through the zombies, searching the land for food and protective clothing, and trying to survive from day to day. But did you know that Chernarus has a real-life model?
Here’s the deal: The Chernarus map is a vast area with towns, small villages, and a lot of nature. When you’re not being mercilessly hunted by zombies, wildlife, or other players, it’s actually a really beautiful area. And exactly that has a real-life counterpart.
This is DayZ in Real Life
Chernarus, the first map of the zombie survival shooter DayZ, actually has a real-life model that you can even visit and explore yourself. And the place is not that far away from Dresden.
The Real Model of DayZ is Povrly in the Czech Republic
The model for Chernarus is Povrly in the north of the Czech Republic. Developers Bohemia Interactive, who are also based in the Czech Republic, have recreated the area in and around Povrly in great detail, giving you a beautiful playground full of death and destruction. During development, of course, a few areas were adapted or expanded.
Whether you’re wreaking havoc in the big cities or sneaking around in the more remote villages. DayZ players will probably recognize some corners, and who wouldn’t want to take the opportunity to discover Chernarus in real life?
