With the Season 02 update on February 15, mission progress in Warzone 2‘s DMZ mode will be reset, and new missions will be added. Now it is known that Modern Warfare 2 owners will get additional content in the form of more missions in the free DMZ mode.
Here’s what’s going on: Players who own Modern Warfare 2 will get more content than everyone else in Season 2. Warzone 2 and its accompanying DMZ mode are available for free to everyone, but now players who have purchased the main game are supposed to get additional missions and an entire faction, respectively. Surprisingly, the community is quite relaxed and thinks it’s okay.
New DMZ Faction “Crown” for Modern Warfare 2 Players
While everyone else goes home empty-handed, Modern Warfare 2 owners will receive a new faction and correspondingly new missions with the start of Season 2. This is according to an official blog post from the developers. The faction is called Crown, the fourth faction in DMZ mode that provides you with missions. It is a mysterious British group that has piqued the interest of Black Mous.
This is how the community reacts: Contrary to what one might expect, the community of the Free2Play mode is quite relaxed about it. There are critical voices against it, for example from the well-known CoD Twitter user CharlieIntel:
forcing players to buy the $70 game to unlock the new missions in the free to play DMZ mode seems like a dumb move.

But in the comments of his tweet, many fans gather who find that’s ok. “Let the Modern Warfare 2 players get something for their money, as long as it doesn’t make the gameplay unfair” is often said in the comments.
- The CoD news site WarzoneQG replied on Twitter: “They run a business, not a charity.”
- Twitter user franmirabella takes it a bit further: “DMZ only exists because of pay-for elements. We all love free stuff — but DMZ is surprisingly feature-packed for being free in the first place. A 4th mission set for those who do support the developers and mode directly isn’t a major problem — unless rewards impact balance.”
- Twitter user mrlizardkingz commented: “It’s an additional faction, not the whole set of factions. Why shouldn’t paying customers be rewarded? I don’t have an issue with this at all.”
So the community is positive, even if they are denied content in the Free2Play title. Until February 16, shortly after the start of Season 02, Modern Warfare 2 is available on PlayStation at a 25% discount. Xbox and PC players will still have to pay the full price of $69.99 (PC) and $79.99 (console).
