Developer Battlestate Games has announced maintenance work for Escape from Tarkov for December 25th and will shut down the servers for it. We'll tell you how long the servers will stay offline.
Why maintenance work? After every major patch, there are always problems that need to be solved by hotfixes. After the release of version 12.12 a few weeks ago, there were apparently minor performance issues in the new Lighthouse area. Maintenance work usually covers the following topics:
In this case, the developer Battlestate Games currently does not provide any information about what the hotfix with version number 12.12.10 contains exactly.

This is the event: A peaceful Santa Claus bot handing out presents can appear in any location except the Labs. He won't interfere in firefights but will attack in response if you injure him. If you kill him as either a PMC or a Scav, you will get significant reputational damage with Fence.
When will it continue? The developer Battlestate Games announced with a tweet today on December 25th that the maintenance work will begin soon. So you don't have to worry that the servers are broken or simply down. The servers are going back online today, and these are the exact times:
Are there any delays? It is currently not known whether the maintenance work will be extended. Developer Battlestate Games explains, however, that the four hours are only a rough schedule and the maintenance work will be extended if necessary.
