If you want to get more FPS in Escape From Tarkov, you don't have to do more than delete your entire Windows and install the old version Windows 8.1. The difference between the old and the newest version of Windows is crazy!

Reddit Post amazed: A Reddit user created a thread a few hours ago in which he shows the performance differences between Escape From Tarkov on Windows 10 & Windows 8.1. The comments show that nobody really expected that.

Redditor starts experiment: The user OCG_Glaxy recently opened a new post on the Tarkov subreddit. Integrated here is a video that shows a direct comparison of Escape From Tarkov on Windows 10 and Windows 8.1.

The difference cannot be dismissed out of hand. Escape From Tarkov runs with up to 30 FPS (frames per second) more on the old iteration. This surprised not only us but also many Reddit users. So far there has been no such comparison. But honestly, who would have expected an 8-year-old version of Windows to get along so well with Tarkov?

What's the reason? The community is discussing the possible cause of such a difference in performance. Most agree that Windows 10 has too many background functions. Windows 8.1 is supposed to be generally better for gaming.

This is a persistent rumor that, unfortunately, is mostly false. Another video shows the comparison of several games like Metro Exodus or PUBG. Not only can we hardly notice a difference here, no, Windows 10 is slightly ahead.

So why Escape From Tarkov performs so much better on Windows 8.1 than on Windows 10 remains a secret for the time being. Should new information arise, we will update this article accordingly.
