Capcom recently streamed a promotional event called "Capcom Spotlight", which was also attended by the producer of Resident Evil 4. His announcement will please fans of the survival horror series, as it included the immediate availability of the playable "Chainsaw Demo" for Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Free demo available now: Resident Evil 4 Remake will be released on March 24th, 2023, but you can already play a part of the modernized survival horror game. That's what Resident Evil 4 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayash explained yesterday in Capcom's live promotional event "Spotlight." You can watch a recording of the entire stream below. Capcom itself, meanwhile, shared:
"We hope the Chainsaw Demo will prepare fans for the horrors that await them when Resident Evil 4 is released on March 24th, 2023 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam."
Capcom did not provide any further information about the Chainsaw demo. However, it is available for all release platforms; you can find this big appetizer on Steam here. Big, because you have to keep 10.3 gigabytes of hard drive space free for Leon S. Kennedy's village visit. This rather impressive size is also explained by the fact that all content up to the appearance of the eponymous villager with the chainsaw is playable here.
Like the 2005 original, the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4 takes place six years after the Raccoon City biological disaster. Agent Leon S. Kennedy, best known from Resident Evil 2, is one of the survivors of the incident. Leon is tasked with rescuing the president's kidnapped daughter at the beginning of Resident Evil 4. Her trail leads him to a seemingly lifeless European village, whose inhabitants seem to be only partially human.
Capcom promises "modernized gameplay, a newly developed storyline and vividly detailed graphics" for the remake. As always with Resident Evil, pre-orderers can expect some (mainly cosmetic) bonuses:
Standard Edition:
Deluxe Edition:
Extra package for the Digital Deluxe Edition:
