The studio Embark Studios, founded by the former EA boss, used the Game Awards 2021 to announce its first title. ARC Raiders is the name of the co-op shooter and is to be released free of charge for the PC in 2022.
What is ARC Raiders? In ARC Raiders you take on the role of a resistance fighter, the raider, and protect the earth together with your friends from "a merciless mechanized threat from the depths of space". Sounds fun.
The special thing about ARC Raiders will be the gameplay. Because even if we don't see all the possibilities in the trailer, the description on Steam makes us very curious. It says:
"Scour the ruins of the past. Use tools and gadgets to outsmart your opponent. Use spontaneous tactics, your environment and physics to your advantage ... There is more than just the right ammunition. Experience fights that require unplanned creativity."
Creative thinking and acting are therefore encouraged. We'll see what that will ultimately look like in the Free2Play third-person shooter in 2022! We are definitely excited and will keep an eye on the title.
Spiders, the developers of GreedFall, have their next work in the oven with Steelrising. The action game for the PC, the Xbox Series X|S, and the PlayStation 5 is due to be released in June 2022 and offers fast battles, an atmospheric world, and an unusual heroine.
What is Steelrising? The French Revolution was prevented by Ludwig XVI in 1789. Now he rules Paris in terror. He did it with his merciless mechanical army, which slashes anyone who defies Ludwig's will.
This is where you come in. In the role of the mechanical woman named Aegis, built by a master engineer, your task is to destroy the mechanical army, unravel the history and ensure the success of the revolution. You can use an arsenal of different techniques and weapons to find your own style of play.
The fights are supposed to be challenging, and "Soulslike" is specified as the genre on the official Steam page. However, the trailers do not yet fully reveal this. The combat system seems more dynamic and reminds a little of NieR: Automata. We are excited to see how the title will fare in June 2022.
Silent Hill inventor Keiichiro Toyama is back after a long break with Slitterhead. With its newly founded studio Bokeh Games, the Japanese teased a new horror spectacle at the Game Awards that is difficult to describe with words. But the trailer already shows grotesque monsters as we know them from Silent Hill.
What is Slitterhead? The new work by Keiichiro Toyama is of course a horror game with horrific creatures and super atmospheric music from the pen of Akira Yamaoka, who also worked on Silent Hill.
However, there is no further information about the game, and the official website is still pretty empty. The title should appear sometime in 2022.
