Find out everything you need to know about the Sabertooth Salmon in our ARK: Survival Evolved guide. But also how to catch it, tame it and what to feed it.
You'll find the Sabertooth Salmon on all ARK maps in rivers or lakes, where it often travels in a small swarm.
Appearance: The Sabertooth Salmon is relatively large for a fish, but is still one of the smaller creatures in ARK, if you compare its size to the other animals. Its large and sharp teeth, which grow at the tip of its mouth, are particularly striking.
Wild: As soon as something larger than itself enters the water, the Sabertooth Salmon will flee, even in a swarm. This means it will swim away from you, too. But don't make the mistake of underestimating it, because if you hit it, and it survives, all of its companions will come for your head.
One Sabertooth Salmon won't cause a lot of damage, but an aggressive swarm that locks you down can cost you your life.
Domesticated: Once you have tamed a Sabertooth Salmon, you can keep it as a pet or harvest it to get raw fish meat or raw prime fish meat.
You can tame the Sabertooth Salmon using the Fish Basket, which was added to ARK within the Aberration DLC.
For the Fish Basket, you need to reach level 13 and 6 engram points, as well as the following resources:
Place the Fish Basket in the water and wait for a fish to swim nearby, then open the baskets menu and click on "Catch a Sabertooth Salmon".
If you go into the water now, you can click on the fish trap and choose "release", the Sabertooth Salmon will spawn tamed next to you.
Once you tamed your Sabertooth Salmon, it is important to know what it likes to eat. Sabertooth Salmons are carnivores, what makes the choice of food easier.
The Sabertooth Salmon can currently not be bred in ARK: Survival Evolved.
