The Electrophorus is a large electric eel in ARK: Survival Evolved that you can find on the sea or ocean floor. With the help of his electric attacks, he can incapacitate or even kill all creatures, with a few exceptions for 8-10 seconds.
Find out everything you need to know about the electric eel in our Electrophorus guide. But also how to catch him, tame him, feed him, and breed offspring too.
Appearance: The Electrophorus is a large genus of electric eel that lives in the depths of the seas/oceans of Ark. Visually, it is reminiscent of a mix of eel and moraine.
Wild: Once you get within the Electrophorus' attack radius, it will attack you until you leave the water. Escaping will be difficult as the Electrophorus is a very fast animal. Add to that his electric shocks, which he can use to slow down, knock out, or even disable all creatures for 8-10 seconds, excluding the Basilosaurus and the Tusoteuthis.
Domesticated: Tamed you can use his shocking attacks and use an army of electrophores to incapacitate entire groups as well as the largest water creatures in Ark and tame them directly if they are only unconscious.
Passively tame the Electrophorus by feeding it Bio Toxin (natural poison).
To avoid being damaged by the Electrophorus attacks, it's best to mount the Basilosaurus or Tusoteuthis, as they are immune to the electric shocks. With your mount ready, place the Bio Toxin in your rightmost inventory slot and make your way to the Electrophorus you wish to tame.
Wait for the Electrophorus to release its electrical charge, jump off your Basilosaurus or Tusoteuthis and feed it the Bio Toxin, which you do by using the "Feed Bio Toxin to Tame" command when you swim up to it. You may have to get back on your mount and repeat the whole procedure several times until you have successfully tamed a high-level specimen.
Once you have tamed your Electrophorus, it is important to know what it likes to eat. Electrophores are carnivores, which of course makes the choice of food easier.
This is how you prepare the breeding: If you have a male and female specimen, you build an enclosure that is large enough at best. Put both dinos in the pen and set them to "wander" via the command menu. Alternatively, you can also switch directly to "Pair", but then there must always be a player nearby, otherwise the pairing will stop due to the rendering.
The breeding interval of an Electrophorus is 18 to 48 hours.
How to Hatch Eggs: When you get a fertilized Electrophorus Egg from a successful mating, hatching begins. For this, the ambient temperature of the egg should be between 0 °C and 50 °C and in the egg incubator at 25 °C. According to standard settings, the little Electrophorus baby hatches after about 5 hours. After that, it takes about 4.5 hours of your attention, during which you keep putting food in its inventory.
Once it gains juvenile status, it can feed on its own. The entire ripening time lasts about 1 day and 22.5 hours.
