Modern Warfare 2: “Puget Lake” & “Puget Altus” Error Explained – Possible Fix

Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 have been experiencing problems since their release. Currently, players are reporting a “Puget Lake” or “Puget Altus” error that prevents them from entering the game. We’ll tell you what this error is and how you can possibly fix it.

What are the “Puget Lake” & “Puget Altus” Error all About?

The Puget Lake or Puget Altus error that some players are currently getting is a server-side error. So it’s not your fault, but the servers of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. The error can be very versatile, and another error code is assigned to the error so that the developers have a better idea of what’s causing it.

Especially after the release of Season 1 on November 16, player numbers have increased many times over on all platforms. This can lead to overloads of the servers, which then sometimes react unexpectedly.

But even if the error is server-side, there are a few rudimentary methods you can try to get rid of the error.

How to Fix the Puget Lake & Puget Altus Error in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2

Since this is a server-side error, there’s basically not much you can do about it. Infinity Ward has to fix it themselves. But until that happens, there are a few rudimentary tricks that might help.

  • Try to connect again and again and stay persistent. This brute force method can help your connection request slip through, and then you are in the game.
  • Close the game and restart your router. Then try to connect to the Call of Duty servers again.
  • Console players can check their consoles for updates and run them. Clearing the console cache can also help.
    • To do this, turn off your console completely and unplug it for 60 seconds. After plugging it in, the cache should be cleared.
    • PS5’s players will need to hold down the power button here after turning it off, though, until a second beep sounds. After releasing it, you’ll be asked if you want to clear the cache.

So you see, there aren’t really many solutions to this problem and none that are guaranteed to help. If you are still struggling with the Puget Lake or Puget Altus error, you will have to wait until Infinity Ward gets a grip on the issue.
