The new year starts in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet with a new Tera Raid event that brings the Pokémon Hydreigon and Katapuldra with it. Our guide tells you when the event starts and what you need to do to participate.

  • Hydreigon: The Dark and Dragon Pokémon, Hydreigon is the third and thus last evolution of Deino, who has been part of Pokémon since the 5th generation. You can find it exclusively in Scarlet.
  • Dragapult: Dragapult is the last evolutionary stage of the Dragon and Ghost Pokémon Dreepy, who entered the Pokémon universe in the 8th generation. You can find it exclusively in Violet.

During the Tera Raid, Hydreigon and Dragapult can take on all Tera types and aren't locked into one, which can change their strengths and weaknesses. If you want to get a Dragapult as a Scarlet owner, you have to participate in an online raid – the same goes for Violet owners that want a Hydreigon.

Tera Raids: Tera Raids are new to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but they are similar to the challenging Dyna Raids in Sword and Shield. Alone or with other players, you'll face off against a powerful pocket monster, coordinate with your team, and ultimately catch the Pokémon yourself.
