Scorn is puzzling: Scorn, the latest horror adventure in the “Alien” style, can do much more than disgusting scenes and a jumpscare-free scary atmosphere. Especially the extensive puzzles stand out from Ebb Software’s eerie work because you always have to keep the big picture in mind here.
Many of the game’s puzzles intertwine in such a way that several small sub-puzzles must be solved to solve one big central puzzle. Our Scorn Guide prevents your trip through the bizarre H.R. Giger world from being disturbed by too-long pondering breaks.

Here are all the Solutions to the Brainteasers Contained in the First Act of Scorn.
Scorn Guide: Act 1-1 – Solving the First Puzzle
Locked Rolling Gate
Point 1 in our Scorn Guide is the small cave with the horizontal rolling gate. Near the entrance, you’ll see an apparatus with a tube-like boom. Put your arm into it. Then put both arms into the console not far from the gate. Now select the left door mechanism and activate it with a mouse click. This will unlock the gate. Now switch to the rolling mechanism on the right side and activate it. The gate opens but gradually closes again. Therefore, you must quickly leave the interaction mode and run through the (half-)open gate.
Big Rock Cave: Switch Mechanism
Run up the eerie rock in the center of the cave along the circular path. At the top, use the big lever on the left; a top-down view will open. You can see a rail network around the rock, including several switches. Now select the switch in the southeast and move it with the left mouse button. The rails must point away from the circuit. Have a look at the screenshot. You will soon have to transport “something” on the rails. Exit the interaction mode.
Gripper Arm Puzzle
Now for the first “real” puzzle of our Scorn Guide. From the central cave, you’ll see a smaller cave to the east of the iron gate with a mysterious treatment area inside. Above it is a grappling arm. Enter the room and look around, near the entrance, you will see an open elevator. Turn the lever in it and go up. Follow the right turn and go to the huge apparatus in the cave ahead.
In front of you, on the narrow console on the left, you’ll see two switches, on the right console, there’s another arm-operated mechanism. Put your arms in there to control the grappling arm on the far right wall with the large egg-shaped wooden shells. Use the arm to move the trays over the wooden grid. Move the bowls so that the way to the left-center is free. You must move the two eye-catching bowls with the light spots to the upper left corner of the grid.
Now use the grapple arm to place the first light shell above the “light signal” in the upper left corner. Then use the left console and let another grapple arm destroy the shell. Don’t panic; this is intentional. Go back to the right console. Now you have to place all the shells to the right of the second light shell. You can see how they should be arranged in the screenshot below.
Once you have placed the second light shell above the signal, use the left console again. A disfigured creature will be pulled out of the bowl and placed in the paternoster-like elevator to the left, transporting the creature down. Exit the interaction mode and return to the main cave via the elevator.
Transport and “Treatment” of the Creature
From the starting point, go northwest to the strange treatment seat. Near it is a console, put your arms in it again. It now takes two mouse clicks to get the creature out of the paternoster with the grappling arm behind the seat. Now press the directional button down and then use the left mouse button to put the creature down in the treatment seat (which turns out to be a kind of lore).
Push the creature to the next console and activate it. After the work is done, push it to the end of the rails – you’ve already set the switches correctly. You are now in the smaller cave mentioned earlier with the mysterious treatment area. Go to the console to the right of the target and activate it. A grappling arm will lift the creature out of its seat with a mouse click.
Now press the right direction button. One more mouse click, and the creature will sit in the shell-like treatment seat. Exit the console and pull the lever near the seat. What follows now is typical Scorn; hopefully, your stomach is strong enough for it. After that, pluck an arm from the corpse and go to the iron gate in the main cave, from the starting point, it is north.
Prepare the arm and open the iron gate
Wait, there is still one small thing to be done. When you are in front of the iron gate in the first big cave of Scorn, turn left and follow the passage into the rock. On your left, you’ll see another apparatus with a hose boom. Put the arm of the corpse into it. Now you can push this arm into the left console in front of the iron gate. Activate the right console, and the gate will open.

Find Weapon and Floating Capsule
When you reach the upper floor with the platform lift, walk straight ahead and then turn left. A bit further back takes the western branch, where you stand in front of the roundish object in the floor. Take the biomechanical weapon from the now extended column.
The northern passage from the starting point leads you to another console, which you activate. Walk straight through the many rocks that resemble large alien eggs. You’ll come to a large biomechanical column (right) in the middle of a vault, surrounded by “stony eggs”. First, however, walk straight ahead, again through a forest of rock eggs. Here you will also find a console at the end. Use it.
Then go back to the biomechanical column and put your arms into the console in front of it. In the air floats a capsule that you can steer around the column. Move it down a bit using the directional keys so it hovers just a bit above you in height. Stop the capsule above the console in front of your location, it will then move up and light up.
Click the mouse to take out a canister with the capsule. Now steer it to the right side and stop it halfway up. A kind of tube lights up on the right part of the column. One click and your cargo is in the tube.
Now another console appears, this time at the lower right edge of the column. Activate it. Direct the capsule to the canister on your right back at the original console. Pick it up with the capsule and push it into the lighted tube at the top right of the column. Activate the next new console (in front of your location). Repeat the same game with the canister on your left, this time a new console will appear on your left. That’s it, with the next movie sequence act 1-2 ends.
