Raccoons are among the rarest animals on the entire island in The Forest. There are only a few places where you can hunt them. But the hunt is worth it!
Hunting raccoons is profitable for a number of reasons. However, the little beasts are not necessarily easy to find. In our guide, we will show you where and how you should go raccoon hunting and why the effort is definitely worth it.
You can find raccoons in The Forest mainly in the open grasslands of the island. But you can also meet them regularly in the forests near the snowy area in the north of the map.
Raccoons are nocturnal animals, so it's best to start your hunt at dusk. Although you may see them occasionally during the day, this is the time when hunting success is most likely. On the one hand, the prey now leaves its cave and, on the other hand, you still have some sunlight to be able to aim well. But hunting is also very easy at night, when the moonlight reflects off the snow and the silhouette of the raccoon stands out clearly against the snow cover.
Since a raccoon will usually flee as soon as it notices you, ranged weapons are best for hunting. Crossbows or bows are reliable methods, but a spear also brings the desired result.
