A worldly vampire doesn’t walk in V Rising, he rides his faithful horse. But where exactly do you get a mount? Guided.news, your #1 source for guides & news on the web, tells you where to find the horse, how to make it your own and what tricks there are.
Who needs a horse in V Rising? As briefly mentioned at the beginning — get it? — as a powerful vampire you need a handsome horse. With it, you can get through the overworld of Vardoran faster and easier, escape from enemies, and transport goods. So before you unlock the bat form, you’re stuck on the ground. Finding a horse in V Rising isn’t that difficult, it’s just not obvious!

How to Find and Tame a Regular Horse in V Rising
Where to find horses? To find your first horse, you’ll need to travel to the Dunley Farms area. We will help you get along with the map. You won’t find your future mount in V Rising in the starting area, which some players never seem to leave. Farbane Woods simply has no spawns for horses.
The border of the two areas can be crossed on two passages: once in the east and once in the west. At both crossings are the Militia Camps. There are horse spawns in both of these Militia Camps.
How to tame the horse: The horses are now standing at various points in the camp. To tame it, it is best to follow the steps below:
- Walk to the horse
- Sit on the horse by holding down the F key.
- Bring the horse to your base.
- Congratulations, you have found and tamed a horse in V Rising.
You can ride the horse to your base, of course, but there is an easier way. You can teleport back to your base with the help of teleporters located on the map.
Why you don’t see horses: The spawns for horses in V Rising are limited. If an enemy monster has killed a horse at its spawn or a player has already tamed it, you must wait. On large servers, this can take quite a while. So wait patiently in the camps until a horse appears.
You Have to Take Care of your Horse – This is What you Have to do
Your horse needs care and actually needs to be taken care of on a regular basis. If you have already missed this throughout the day, return to the start of the V Rising horse guide. So, what does your horse need?
Supply your steed regularly with water from the waterskin. For those, you need to make leather in the Tannery. Together with plant fibers, you can now make a water skin. Now march to the nearest water source and fill up your drinking container. Return to your horse and press TAB in his/her area to open your and his/her inventory. Pack your full waterskin into the horse.
Important tips for your mount:
- You can stack waterskin to a maximum of 5.
- Your horse has three slots, so it can carry a total of 15 full waterskin.
- Each full waterskin will keep your horse alive for a good 2 to 3 hours.

How does the horse control work in V Rising?
Your mount controls visibly differently than your character. The horse may be faster, but it is more sluggish and can hardly be turned and rotated. That’s why it’s important that you master the controls perfectly. Also, your mount has three attributes: maximum speed, acceleration and rotation speed.
This is how you control the horse in V Rising:
- F key: get on the horse
- Q key: Get off the horse
- Spacebar: Switch gallop
- Left click: Attack from horse
