In the co-op survival game Valheim, finding resources is often a nuisance. Therefore, you should start cultivating your home land early. Here you can find out how trees and vegetables are planted.
What you need to know: Already in Early Access, Valheim consists of nine different biomes with different vegetation and various seed deposits. This disadvantage is that not every resource you need is available everywhere. But you can save yourself long walking distances by planting the plots of your bases in a very species-rich manner.
To grow vegetables and cultivate trees, you only require two things: a forge and a rake (cultivator). However, both of these do not fall from the sky in Valheim, so we first want to explain the manufacturing process.

Build rake and forge – that’s how it works
Build a forge: First, you have to build a smelter. In addition to 6 bars made of copper ore, you also require the following resources: 10x wood, 4x stones, and 4x coal.
When you have all that, you take the construction hammer in your hand and open the crafting menu with the right mouse button. There, you select the forge and place it near your workbench. If this is in the house and space is limited, you can also place the forge outside – the main thing is that the distance to the workbench is not too great.
Build a rake: To unlock the blueprint for the rake, you have to make bronze. The construction of the rake (for this, you switch back to the crafting menu) requires 5x bronze and 5x core wood, a somewhat rarer wood.
The rake, similar to the hoe (hoe), has several functions. You can use it to create grassy areas and house foundations, grow carrot seeds or carrots, and plant trees.
This is how you find seeds and grow them
Where to find seeds: To find all sorts of seeds, you should take one or two trips to the Black Forest. However, not immediately after the game has started or generally in the very early game because this place is too dangerous for newcomers. The best thing to do is to beat up a bunch of wild boars first to make armor parts from the leather you have extracted. In the Black Forest, you can gather seeds by hitting trees or other vegetation.
Growing seeds: Equip the rake and right-click to open the menu, just like with the construction hammer. Here, you select Cultivate. Now the soil to be cultivated can be prepared with a left-click. Then open the rake menu again and select the desired seed. Once planted, it only takes a little patience or a few in-game days before the fruits of your actions can be harvested.
