The Tusoteuthis a squid of incredible proportions in ARK: Survival Evolved from which you can harvest oil from its ink. In addition, he can simply grab other water dwellers and transport them through the water or easily do them.

Find out everything you need to know about the giant squid in our guide to Tusoteuthis. But also how to catch him, tame him, feed him and breed offspring too.

This is the Tusoteuthis in ARK: Survival Evolved

Appearance: At 30 feet (approx. 9 m), the Tusoteuthis is a giant squid species and, along with the Leedsychtis, is one of the largest aquatic creatures in ARK. Its tentacles have hooked suction cups that it can use to suck blood. Like other squids, the Tusoteuthis has a beak, just huge. This can effortlessly shred meat, shells and bones.

Wild: The deep-dwelling Tusoteuthis is an aggressive aquatic creature that will also attack you as soon as you are in its line of sight. Even if he swims towards you head first, he will turn to grab you with his tentacles. If he has you, he will suck the blood out of you with the hook-shaped suction cups, which will slowly make you unconscious. The Tusoteuthis, on the other hand, is revitalized by your blood.

Should the Tusoteuthis lose a fight anyway, it squirts out its oily ink, blocking the enemy’s line of sight so it can flee.

Domesticated: Mainly he is bred and tamed Tusoteuthis to obtain oil from his ink. But he can do much more. With its tentacles, it can grab and transport or finish off even the largest water creatures.

How to tame the Tusoteuthis in ARK

The Tusoteuthis is passively tamed by feeding it Black Pearls.

To make it easy for you, you’ll need a strong, resilient mount that can survive the Tusoteuthis’ grasp. Once you have placed the black pearls in your slot on the far right and your mount, you swim towards Tusoteuthis until he tries to attack you. Just before the said attack, dismount your mount and grab it.

Once your mount is in the Tusoteuthis’ grip, swim to its beak, which is at the lower end of the body, like a normal squid, protected by tentacles. Once you’ve swam close enough to him, the “Feed black pearls to tame” command will appear, which you must execute.

Normally, the Tusoteuthis takes 50x Black Pearls per feeding. How many you end up needing depends on the level of the copy you want. You should definitely have collected enough black pearls.

How to craft the Tusoteuthis Saddle

To craft the Tusoteuthis Saddle, you need to be level 91 and 40 Engram Points to unlock the recipe. You now need the following resources to craft:

  • 320x Hide
  • 795x Fiber
  • 30x Metal Ingots

How to breed the Tusoteuthis in ARK

This is how you prepare the breeding: If you have a male and female specimen, you build an enclosure that is large enough at best. Put both dinos in the pen and set them to “wander” via the command menu. Alternatively, you can also switch directly to “Pair”, but then there must always be a player nearby, otherwise the pairing will stop due to the rendering.

The breeding interval of a Tusoteuthis is 18 to 48 hours.

How to Hatch Eggs: If you get a fertilized Tusoteuthis from a successful mating, hatching begins. For this, the ambient temperature of the egg should be between 0 °C and 50 °C and in the egg incubator at 25 °C. According to standard settings, the little Tusoteuthis baby hatches after about 5 hours. After that, it takes about 18.5 hours of your attention, during which you keep putting meat in its inventory.

Once it gains juvenile status, it can feed on its own. The entire ripening period lasts about 7 days and 17 hours.
