When playing ARK: Survival Evolved you will inevitably come across the material polymer, whether it is an organic variant or a variant you have made yourself in the fabricator. Polymer is used for many Tek items, but there are also saddles, more modern weapons, or tools that require polymer.

In this guide, we'll show you where to get organic polymer, how to make polymer, and what you need it for.

How to get Polymer in ARK

How do you get polymer? As mentioned at the beginning, there are different types of polymer, the organic and the manufactured polymer. There are also "damaged nodules", but these can only be obtained from dead corrupted creatures. In the following, we will show you the two common ways to get the coveted raw material.

This is how you can craft Polymer in ARK

In order to manufacture polymer, you need at least level 48. Once you have reached this level, you must unlock the recipes for the polymer and the fabricator. You will also need cement and obsidian. Here are the steps you need to follow to make polymer.

  • Build a fabricator and fill it with gasoline
  • Farm obsidian and craft cement
  • Place 2x obsidian and 2x cement in the fabricator for each polymer

You have to produce cement with chitin/keratin and stones in a mortar and you get obsidian in rocky mountains or caves.

How to farm Organic Polymer in ARK

Another way to get polymer is to farm organic polymer. However, since organic polymer has an expiration timer, you must use it quickly. The following creatures can drop organic polymer.

  • Kairuku - The penguins found in ice areas.
  • Hesperornis - The "duck" can be found on almost all bodies of water.
  • Mantis - The "Praying Mantis is", a dangerous creature found only on DLC Maps.
  • Karkinos - The giant crab, a very aggressive creature that can only be found in the waters on DLC maps.

One of the easiest ways to get large amounts of organic polymer on "The Island" is to farm the Kairuku in the Northwest Ice Region. But consider the way back and the eventual deterioration of the organic polymers along the way. Finally, we show you some spawns on the common maps using the following gallery.

For these things you need polymer in ARK: Survival Evolved
