Lost Ark presents new players with the agony of choice at the start: Various different classes are waiting to be leveled. A new addition is the “Destroyer”, an advanced warrior class, a powerful tank that can use its monstrous hammer to slow, weaken and eventually crush its enemies to dust. We take a closer look at the new hero in this guide and tell you what you need to know about the destroyer.

Class Overview, Role & Identity of Destroyer
This is the Destroyer: The Destroyer is a melee class that primarily acts as a tank. As a warrior, the Destroyer uses heavy attacks to stun or stagger opponents. Because he uses a massive hammer as his weapon, his movement and attack speed is limited. However, he makes up for this with a number of abilities with which he manipulates gravity and either leap into the enemy masses or simply pulls his enemies directly towards him.
Lost Ark Destroyer: How does the class work?
How to Play the Class: The Destroyer focuses on manipulating Arkesia’s gravity to compensate for its slow movement speed and crushing enemies with massive attacks. Because he has a large health pool, he is ideal as a tank in group play and is therefore always at the forefront. He scores particularly well against large bosses or groups of opponents.
In order to play Destroyer effectively, you must master the gravity system. The Destroyer’s class identity focuses on the so-called Gravity Cores. Whenever you use a Concentration ability (marked blue in the skill bar), you gain a Gravity Core. You use these cores to use special gravity skills. The Gravity Skills, in turn, fill your Gravity Gauge, which you can use to activate your Class Identity (more on that below).
Destroyer playstyle remains largely the same in PvE whether you’re in a group or solo:
- You should always keep an eye on your gravity bar and build up your gravity cores.
- Use your shield wisely and use your class identity to mitigate heavy damage.
In PvP, you can play the Destroyer as either a tank or a damage dealer. Your focus here should also be on filling the gravity bar. Watch out for ranged enemies that can quickly threaten you, and control individual positions on the battlefield while slowing down your enemies and using your shield effectively.
The destroyer’s class identity
What can the identity of the class? Destroyer identity focuses on how to use the gravity bar and related skills. Once you’ve filled your Gravity Gauge with the appropriate abilities, you can switch to Hypergravity Mode. This mode slows down enemies in your direct vicinity, shields your character and makes them immune to debuffs. You can also use the Vortex gravity attack, which deals very high damage to your opponents and pulls them towards you.
The most important attributes of the Destroyer: With every class in Lost Ark, you should pay attention to various attributes on the armor in the endgame. For the destroyer, these are:
- Critical Probability: Further increases the Destroyer’s damage.
- Specialization: Enhances your class’s specific abilities.
Pros and Cons of Destroyer in Lost Ark
Lost Ark Destroyer: The right spec
In Lost Ark, the first 50 levels hardly determine your later final build. In general, you can reset your skills at any time for free and redistribute the skill points. You can mix and match your skills however you like. Until you have all the points, you can experiment with your build as you see fit.
However, there is a clear tendency that most players resort to and which we also recommend. The builds differ depending on whether you are in raids, in chaos dungeons or in PvP. We have therefore put together three corresponding skills for you:

Lost Ark Destroyers: The Best Engravings
What are engravings? Once your character has reached level 50, you can use the important bonuses and buffs. Engravings provide you with bonuses and buffs to skills or character stats. It is important to note that not every class can have every engraving. There are normal engraves that you can apply to both your current character and your secondary characters. Then of course only when they have reached level 50. We also have a detailed guide that looks at the engravings.
Each class in Lost Ark has two class-specific engravings in addition to the traditional engravings. For the destroyer these are:
- Gravity Training: Gravity Gauge regeneration, base attack damage, and crit rate are increased while your class identity is active.
- Wrathhammer: You gain bonus crit rate and crit damage based on the number of cores you expend when using your gravity skills.
The best normal engravings for the destroyer
You should take these other engravings with you: As already mentioned above, you can also take other engravings with you in addition to your class engraving. The normal engravings either improve your damage or give a buff to your equipment. You can take a total of four engravings with you. The number of engraving points to invest is dictated by your gear. You can get a maximum of 35 engraving points, which should be enough for three normal engravings and your class-specific engraving.
The spec doesn’t matter when choosing the engravings for the destroyer. Basically, the following normal engravings are recommended:
- Master Brawler: Increases your frontal attack damage (5-25 percent depending on engraving tier).
- Daring Blunt Weapon: additional crit damage (10-50 percent depending on engraving tier), but there is a chance that your attacks will deal 20 percent less damage
- Resentment: additional damage to boss or higher ranked monsters (depending on engraving tier 4-20 percent), but 20 percent higher damage suffered from them (only worth it at tier 3 in the endgame)
- Spirit Absorption: Increases your attack and movement speed (by 3 to 15 percent depending on the engraving tier).
- Cursed Doll: additional attack power (3-16 percent depending on the engraving animal), but 25 percent less healing

These are Destroyer Awakening Abilities in Lost Ark
Just like Engravings, you will only unlock the Awakening ability once your Destroyer reaches level 50 and completes the appropriate quest line. There are two variants here, both of which you can unlock. However, you can only equip one awakening ability and not both at the same time, but you can switch between skills at any time.
- Terra Rupture: You pound the ground, causing a gravity field to appear. Enemies standing in the field are thrown to the ground. You also swing your hammer in the air to damage enemies by knocking them up in the air and then knocking them back down. Fills your gravity gauge to 100 percent.
- Big Bang: You gather gravitational energy that explodes in a radius around you, damaging enemies while knocking them back. Your damage taken is reduced by 50 percent, and you become immune to debuffs, knocks, and decreased movement speed.
Which awakening ability you should use depends on which build you’re using. On the other hand, in Chaos Dungeons, Terra Fracture scores because you can use it to hit particularly large numbers of enemies. Big Bang is most suitable for raids and PvP with its focus damage on single targets and damage mitigation.
