How Many Armor Sets are There in Zelda ToTK, and What do They do?
In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, hero Link is not just a little green man. No, the over 50-year-old Nintendo hero can access numerous armors to enhance both his appearance and abilities.

The armor pieces in Zelda: TotK have specific properties that have an effect not only during combat but also outside of it. In general, armor increases Link’s defense against enemy attacks, and armor sets offer upgrades in the following categories:
Physical Perks
- Attack up: Increases the damage Link deals
- Stealth up: Makes it harder for enemies to detect Link in stealth mode
- Climbing speed up: Improves Link’s climbing speed so less stamina is needed
- Swimming speed up: Increases Link’s swimming speed, or he gains the ability to swim up waterfalls
Magical Perks
- Cold Resistance: Improves Link’s resistance to extreme cold
- Heat Resistance: Increases defense against hot climates
- Flame Guard: Provides protection against extreme heat
- Shock Resistance: Enhances Link’s electricity resistance
In total, there are at least 135 armor pieces in the Breath of the Wild successor, which are distributed across the head, chest, and legs. They also form 37 sets that grant Link the greatest bonuses to skills as well as resistances and are sometimes available for rupees from an armor shop (the Snowquill Tunic at Rito Village or the Enchanted Armor at Kakariko Village, for example).
Is there an armor limit in TotK? Yes, it becomes challenging to accommodate all 37 armor sets in Link’s inventory. You are allowed a maximum of 30 rows, each containing 5 pieces of armor, which means you can carry a total of 150 pieces. However, you probably don’t want to carry only sets. In the end, you may need to sort out the weakest to make space in your inventory.
Zelda TotK: All Armor Sets, Their Properties, and Bonuses
We asked Link to wear every available armor set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for us. You can view these mostly very different looks in the images below. Additionally, we have noted the individual properties of all the armor sets there.
For some of the sets listed below, we have written separate guides. They reveal, for example, how and where you can obtain the respective set. We have placed links to these texts under the images if applicable (“More Info”). The armor values of individual pieces may vary, but often, all pieces provide the same level of protection.

What is the best armor in TotK?
And most importantly: does it even exist? That depends entirely on the perspective. Armor pieces or sets scale in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom; this means that an armor set adapts to Link’s current experience and combat strength. Therefore, the armor values mentioned in this article are not fixed values but rather the data that we could obtain from our inventory at the time of discovering each set. However, there are armor sets that have proven to be particularly useful or practical for us overall, both in combat and in the open world (to master side quests or solve a shrine puzzle, for example,). These include:
