Fjordur is a free DLC for ARK: Survial Evolved, which was released on June 12, 2022 for all platforms. The all-new map set in Norse mythology has a lot to offer. We introduce you to Fjordur and its special features.
This is how Fjordur came about: Originally, Fjordur was created as a community map over years of work by the German modder Nils Menne aka Nekatus (via Steam) and Trappel22 (via Steam) in cooperation with the modder Garuga (via Steam), who created the Fenrir, among other things. However, Fjordur was not originally intended to be released by Studio Wildcard. But since June 12, 2022, Fjordur has officially been one of the versatile maps in ARK.
That's how big Fjordur is: The 140 square kilometer map is about 3.5 times larger than the original island in ARK, which is only about 40 square kilometers. In addition, there are the numerous cave systems that this map has to offer and three other kingdoms that are connected to each other via portals:
This is how Fjordur is divided: Fjordur consists of the islands of Vardiland, Vannaland, Bolbjord and Balheimr, which in Nordic design are home to mountain landscapes with different biomes and castles. Vardiland and Vanneland consist of ice and forest biomes, as well as normal green areas, Balheimr is a volcanic island and Bolbjord is a swamp area.
The ruins from the Lord of the Rings trilogy are particularly noteworthy, such as Moria / Khazad-dûm, an attempted construction of the dwarf city, or Helm's Deep, a construction of the Rohan fortress.
Fjordur, just like the previous DLCs, brings Map exclusive creatures. While you can find and tame the Fjordhawk, the Andrewsarchus and the Desmodus on the map, you have to "earn" the Fenrir. You can read our guides on how to tame the creatures and earn Fenrir.
The environment on Fjordur also has exclusive things to offer, such as:
You can fight these new bosses in Fjordur:
Fjordur offers a lot of new possibilities, building sites or ruins. This incredibly vast and diverse map takes you on a new adventure in an impressive, but also very dangerous world. Fjordur is not only beautiful to look at, but is also liked by the ARK: Survival Evolved community. So far, the map has a positive rating of 81% on Steam.
Incidentally, Nekatus is already working on the next map, which will have the land of the dwarves as its theme and will be called Svartalfheim. However, it will probably take a few more years to complete.
