Also known as the Hell Pig, the Daeodon is a special team member in ARK: Survival Evolved due to its ability to heal itself and other creatures within its range. So it is interesting and useful for anyone who wants to challenge a boss, or who likes to fight in general.
Find out everything you need to know about the healing hell pig in our guide to the Daeodon. But also how to catch it, tame it, feed it, and breed offspring too.
This is the Daeodon in ARK: Survival Evolved
Appearance: The Daeodon is a giant mammal of the pig family. While one can still clearly see the relationship to pigs in the hooves, one cannot see it in his head. This is large, with a long snout housing tusk-like front teeth and rows of molars. Also, the body structure has little of a conventional pig, as it is much larger and the back forms a kind of hump above the shoulders.
Wild: Daeodons are pack animals, so you’ll rarely see them alone. In packs, they hunt any type of prey to survive. The hell pigs are not choosy. It is possible that the territorial and sometimes aggressive Daeodons will attack you in packs, and they can always heal each other. But if you meet a specimen that is alone, one attack is usually enough for it to flee.
Domesticated: The Daeodon can heal itself and your creatures around it. For this reason, he is often a valuable member in battles against strong opponents. They are also known for being able to track down rare mushrooms.
How to tame the Daeodon in ARK
This is how you hunt the Daeodon: The easiest way is to tame a Daeodon that is traveling alone, as it does not pose any great danger and would flee if attacked. However, should you encounter a pack, it’s easier to eliminate the other Daeodons and focus on one.
Once you isolate and attack the Daeodon, it will flee. Once you’ve leveled up your movement speed high enough, you can just go after him and shoot tranquilizer darts at him. But you can also follow him on a faster Dino and shoot at the Daeodon from him.
How to tame him: Once he’s unconscious, put meat or kibble (recipes below) in his inventory and feed him that. The better the meat, the faster the taming. To keep the Daeodon down and the stun value up, it’s best to use Narcoberries or anesthetics.

How to breed the Daeodon in ARK
This is how you prepare the breeding: If you have a male and female specimen, you build an enclosure that is large enough at best. Place both dinos in the exhibit and set them to roam via the command menu. Alternatively, you can also switch directly to “Pair”, but then there must always be a player nearby, otherwise the pairing will stop due to the rendering.
The breeding interval of a Daeodon is 18 to 48 hours.
After a successful mating, if you play on default settings, the female Daeodon will be pregnant for about 8 hours. After these 8 hours, you can welcome the little Daeodon Baby into the world. As a baby, it takes up another 5 hours of your attention, during which you have to keep putting food in its inventory. Pay attention to the embossing intervals every 8 hours to tickle the greatest potential out of the baby.
Once it gains juvenile status, it can feed on its own. The entire ripening time takes about 2 days and 1 hour
