ARK: Survival Evolved: Defeat Fjordur Endboss and Get Fenrir

Originally from Norse mythology, the Fenrir comes to ARK: Survival Evolved with the Fjordur DLC. To get it, you must first defeat 3 mini-bosses, 3 guardians, and the Alpha Fenrisúlfr.

In our guide, you will learn how to get the Fenrir step by step.

This is the Fenrir in ARK: Survival Evolved

Appearance: The Fenrir is a Fjordur-exclusive version of the direwolf, with spikes of ice studded on its back, legs, and around its face. His face is a bit like that of a Ravager.

How to get the Fenrir in ARK: Survival Evolved

You will not be able to simply tame or breed the Fenrir, you will receive it as a loot instead. To get the Fenrir you have to follow 4 steps that we explain to you in detail here:

  • Collect 90 runestones.
  • Defeat three mini-bosses and collect fragments.
  • Summon three guardians with the fragments, defeat them and collect heads.
  • Summon Fenrisúlfr with the 3 heads, defeat it and get Fenrir.

Step 1: Runestones

How to collect rune stones: Before you start looking for the 3 mini-bosses, you should first collect 90 rune stones. You’ll need these later to summon the 3 mini-bosses – so 30 rune stones per boss. You can get rune stones by defeating alpha dinosaurs, for example. The more powerful the animal, the more rune stones there are.

Step 2: Summon and defeat mini-bosses

Beyla the giant bee

Bayla is a giant bee who has her shrine on Fjordur. You can find the entrance on the normal Fjordur map at coordinates 04.6 47.2. Be vigilant in front of and inside the cave in case there are wild and aggressive creatures roaming around. Run into the cave to the shrine and summon Beyla with the 30 runestones you collected earlier.

To do this, simply place the rune stones in the shrine. Now you must defeat Beyla. In the fight, Beyla keeps dropping smaller bees, which you also have to defeat. It also spits poison when it flies up, which will also damage you if you’re not wearing a gas mask at the moment. So better take one with you or run out of poison.

Once you defeat Beyla, she will drop a shard/fragment that you must pick up as you will need this later, the rest of the loot varies.

Steinbjorn the bear

Steinbjorn is a giant bear with the traits of a golem, whose shrine is on Jotunheim. To get to Jotunheim, you must use the portal room. Teleporting doesn’t cost you anything, so don’t worry.

The entrance to Steinbjorn’s shrine is at coordinates 77.7 33.8. Dress warmly before entering the cave – it’s freezing cold here. Run into the cave and place the 30 rune stones in the shrine like you did with Beyla and summon Steinbjorn. Now you have to defeat this one too. The most effective against Steinbjorn is the Giganotosaurus with 100% imprint.

Important!: if Steinbjorn comes too close to the exit of the cave, your combat success will be reset and he will spawn again.

Once you’ve defeated Steinbjorn, collect the shard/fragment again.

The wolves Hati and Skoll

You can find the two wolves Hati and Skoll on Asgard. To get there, you simply use the portal room and teleport to it. You will then find the shrine of Hati and Skoll at coordinates 20.5 37.1.

Again, place 30 rune stones in the shrine, summon them, and defeat the two. The yellow wolf mainly uses sun and fire attacks and the grayish wolf attacks you with ice attacks. In addition, small Fenrirs are spawning again and again.

When you defeat Hati and Skoll, they both drop Loot and Shards/Fragments. Collect both again.

Step 3: Summon and defeat Guardians

Once you have collected the fragments, you must face the three bosses that you already know from the original ARK. But you can find all 3 bosses on the Fjordur Map. You then defeat them in Alpha, Beta or Gamma.

Mesopithecus, the Gorilla

The gorilla or Mesopithecus is the weakest of the three guardians and therefore perfect for the beginning. You can find the entrance to his cave at 56.6 84.6. You go into the cave to the terminal and use one of the collected shards or fragments to summon the boss. During the fight, Mesopithecus and Gigantopithecus will also attack you.

After a successful defeat of the gorilla, you collect his loot. Above all, don’t forget to take the trophy with you, that is, his head.

The Broodmother Lysrix

You can find the spider or Broodmother Lysrix in the cave at 57.3 65.6. Here you have to go back to the terminal in the cave and summon the spider using one of the shards/fragments. The easiest way to defeat the spider is with dinosaurs like the Rex or Spinosaurus. If you don’t ride a dino, there’s a high risk that you’ll be snared by her.

After defeating them, collect their loot and trophy.

The Dragon

The dragon is the largest and strongest of the three bosses. You can find him in the cave at 86.2 05.1. Again, go into the cave, look for the terminal and summon the dragon with one of the shards/fragments.

You should only have Mastercraft or Ascendant quality firearms that deal excellent damage. During the fight, he will fire fireballs at you, these have a large explosion radius and can also hit you directly as a rider. Herbivores take less damage from this attack. In addition to the dangerous fire attacks, the dragon also summons Pteranodons and Dimorphodons to help him finish you off. Strong Pteranodons that attack him automatically are also suitable in battle.

If you have defeated the dragon, then you collect the loot and the trophy here as well.

Step 4: Summon and defeat Fenrisúlfr

You successfully defeated the monkey, the spider, and the dragon? Then you look for any obelisk on Fjordur and summon your last opponent with the heads of the three guardians: Fenrisúlfr.

Fenrisúlfr has one of the highest health stats of any boss in the game, with health hitting the millions on Alpha difficulty, so brace yourself for a long fight. In this fight, he will attack you with charge attacks, ice spikes, Fenrir’s howl, and a mana-like ice beam, and summon normal Fenrir. Despite his aggressive attacking stance, he is a slow opponent, which you can use to your advantage.

The following genera are particularly helpful in controlling Fenrisúlfr:

  • Spinosaurus
  • Rex
  • Shadowmanes
  • Yutyrannus
  • Andrewsarchus
  • Daedon
  • Therizinosaurus

After defeating Fenrisúlfr, you will receive your very own Fenrir.
