ARK: Survival Evolved: Manta – How to Tame, Feed and Breed!

Deutsch English

The Manta in ARK: Survival Evolved is an aggressive species of ray that doesn’t like having divers or other creatures around. However, once tamed, it offers you the perfect escort in a swarm. Mantas can be found in the sea, rivers, or flooded bumps anywhere in the ARK.

In our guide to the Manta, you will find out everything you need to know about the well-known aquatic creature. But also how to catch him, tame him, feed him, and breed offspring too.

This is the Manta in ARK: Survival Evolved

Appearance: The Manta is a species of ray that looks like a hybrid of the rays alive today. For example, it is the size of a Manta ray but has the spiked and barbed tail of a stingray.

Wild: You will not usually encounter a Manta alone, as they usually travel in groups of three. They will attack you if you swim near them. Also, your tamed creatures that are waiting for you will be considered prey and will be attacked. When attacking, their most powerful weapon is their barbed tail, which can even penetrate armor. A stitch in the wrong place could end badly for you.

Domesticated: While not the fastest swimmers, tamed Mantas are also ideal in a group for escorting cargo or escorting you and your mount on underwater adventures.

How to tame the Manta in ARK

The Manta is passively tamed by feeding it Anglergel Gel. However, to be able to feed him you have to get close to him, which is difficult since he will attack you immediately. On top of that, if it’s not a loner, you’ll have to kill the other Mantas in the group.

To make feeding easier and to avoid being attacked and damaged as a result, you can easily build a trap:

For this you take a foundation, on the edges of which you place stone door frames in a U-shape; you leave one side open. Now you provoke the Manta and swim through the trap. Once it’s stuck, close the open side with another stone door frame.

If the Manta is trapped, you can easily feed it with fishing rods until it is tamed. It is best to stay with your Manta throughout the taming process and deal with any predators that may appear.

How to make the Manta saddle

To craft the Manta Saddle, you need to be level 28 and 16 engram points to unlock the recipe. You now need the following resources to craft:

  • 100x Hide
  • 70x Fiber
  • 25x Wood
  • 35x Metal Ingots
  • 12x Flint

How to feed a Manta in ARK

Once you have tamed your Manta, it is important to know what it likes to eat. The Manta is a carnivore, which of course makes the choice of food easier.

  • Angler Gel:
    • You get it when gutting anglers, deathworms; or while fishing.
  • Plankton
  • Raw Mutton:
    • Received by gutting Ovis.
    • Cooking turns it into the Cooked Lamb Chop
  • Raw Prime Meat:
    • Gained when gutting larger creatures
    • Cooking turns it into Cooked Prime Meat
  • Raw Prime Fish Meat:
    • Obtained from Alpha Mosasaurus, Dunkleosteus, Electrophorus, Leedsichtys, Megalodon, and Sabertooth Salmon
    • Cooking turns it into the Cooked Prime Fish Meat
  • Raw Meat:
    • Earned by gutting a creature
    • Cooking turns it into Cooked Meat
  • Raw Fish Meat:
    • Received from gutting fish
    • Cooking turns it into Cooked Fish Meat
    • re
    • cooking it becomes grilled meat

How to breed the Manta in ARK

This is how you prepare for breeding: If you have a male and female specimen, at best you build an enclosure that is large enough. Put both dinos in the pen and set them to “wander” via the command menu. Alternatively, you can also switch directly to “Pair”, but then there must always be a player nearby, otherwise the pairing will stop due to the rendering.

The breeding interval of a Manta is 18 to 48 hours.

MANTA BABY ARK

After successful mating, if you play on default settings, the female Manta will be pregnant for about 8 hours. After these 8 hours, you can welcome the little Manta baby into the world. As a baby, it takes another 4 hours of your attention, during which you have to keep putting food in its inventory. Pay attention to the embossing intervals every 8 hours to tickle the greatest potential out of the baby.

Once it gains juvenile status, it can feed on its own. The total maturation time is about 1 day and 13 hours.
