During the Halloween event of ARK Survival Evolved called “Fear Evolved”, you have the opportunity to fight the rare Dodorex and receive special rewards. This guide will teach you everything you need to know about the Dodorex.
This makes the Dodorex special: The Dodorex is an “Event Dino” that you can only summon or see during various events. It is best known for appearing at the Halloween event, where it spawns at midnight every third day until 07:00 in the morning. It is possible to tame it during some events. During Fear Evolved, the Dodorex drops rewards if you manage to defeat him.
Appearance: The Dodorex is a combination of a T-Rex and a Dodo. In terms of size, it is similar to the size of Gigas.
Movement: The Dodorex is particularly fast on land and water. Over a short period, it can sprint faster than most creatures in ARK.
Attacks: The Dodorex can damage metal structures with its attacks and destroy metal walls and foundations within seconds. It is thus stronger than the Dragon Boss.
Health: Its health at level 1, which is the level it normally has when it spawns, is about 666,666 health points. It also can regenerate 250 hit points per second, making it an enemy that will likely cost you resources and some of the dinos you have tamed.
ARK Fear Evolved—The Halloween Event: During the Halloween Event, the Dodorex spawns every third day at midnight exclusively on “The Island” at a random spawn point, mostly at the beach.
As soon as the Dodorex spawns, the moon will turn orange, on which the silhouette of the Dodorex's head will appear. All players will receive a message that it has spawned. At 07:00 a.m., the Dodorex will disappear.
ARK Turkey Trial—The Thanksgiving Event: During the event, which takes place on Thanksgiving, the Dodorex can be summoned with Wishbones by using the cooking pot. After claiming it, you can ride it without a saddle until it disappears after 25 minutes.
ARK Winter Wonderland—The Christmas Event: Using the cooking pot, you can summon the Dodorex with charcoal. After it is summoned, it is tamed for 25 minutes until it disappears.
ARK Eggcelent Adventure—The Easter Event: Using the cooking pot, you can summon the Dodorex with bunny eggs. After it is summoned, it is tamed for 25 minutes until it disappears.
ARK Awesome Anniversary—The Birthday Event: During the Birthday Event, the Dodorex can be summoned with Birthday Cake by using the cooking pot. After claiming it, you can ride it without a saddle until it disappears after 30 minutes.
Genesis Part 2: The Dodorex is automatically summoned as the final boss of the Survive the ARK mission.
Even though the Dodorex seems invincible at first and takes down a lot of your tamed dinos easily, it has two weak points that allow you to defeat it.
Water: While in the water, the Dodorex can only use its melee attack forward, which means you can attack it with tamed and leveled-up water creatures without taking major damage from the fire breath area attack. The following animals are the most effective:
Bleed Damage: Even though the Dodorex doesn't lose much health from melee attack damage, it loses even more from bleeding damage. So if you want to attack it on land, you can pin it down with a big bear trap and let it get attacked by all creatures that do bleed damage. Here are some examples:
